Lord Shiva (Tryambaka)

Maha Mrityunjaya Mantra (Rudra Mantra)

Sanskrit Text

ॐ त्र्यम्बकं यजामहे सुगन्धिं पुष्टिवर्धनम्। उर्वारुकमिव बन्धनान्मृत्योर्मुक्षीय माऽमृतात्॥

English Transliteration

Om Tryambakam Yajamahe Sugandhim Pushti-Vardhanam। Urvarukamiva Bandhanan Mrityor Mukshiya Mamritat॥

Spiritual Meaning & Essence

We worship the three-eyed Lord Shiva, who is fragrant and nourishes and sustains all life. Just as a ripe cucumber is naturally released from the bondage of its vine, may He liberate us from death, disease, and worldly attachments, but not from immortality.

Spiritual Benefits (Phalashruti)

Conquers untimely death (Akal Mrityu), cures severe chronic illnesses, dispels acute fears, neutralizes malefic planetary afflictions (especially Saturn and Rahu), and bestows longevity and peace.

How to Chant (Vidhi & Rules)

Chant with sincere devotion using a Rudraksha mala facing East or North. Pouring pure water or milk over a Shiva Linga while chanting multiplies the spiritual efficacy.
